awesome finds at a garage sale!

man i wish i had found this forum along time ago. i found so many neat things at sales yesterday, we had so much i had to come home and unload my durango. here is a list of some of my finds

box full of those little marble things for 1.00(this is a good size box)

box full of glas bowls, like the ones used at weddings for center pieces there is 8 in the box for 1.50

garden statues, 3 frogs, 2 cherubs .25 each

several small angels i will use for the tops of totems

tons of pretty glasses

wooden bird houses .10 each

tall wooden rabbit (needs repainted) for .50

a box full of large candle holders, these look like the old kind that have the finger loop on them not real high but great for bowling balls

4 tall candle holders .75 each

that is all i can think of now, but i know there was more.

then when i got home i took a bb, and painted it bright yellow added a smiley face, it is so cute ! i tracked down a camera so hopefully i can figure out how to get some pictures

Wow Kim, you had a fantastic day at the yard sales didn't you! It's nice to read how excited you are about finding this forum, I think it's just the greatest. As for posting pics, try "photobucket.com" which I and many others use. It's simple once you get the hang of it. Quick lesson on using it: Join as a member, go to "browse" and chosse the pics in your picture folder on your computer, "upload" them. To post one or several pics inside your msg, without closing down the forum, open your Photobucket acct, I have mine stored in "My Favorites" for easy access, find the photo you've uploaded, click on the middle "HTML Code" (it will say "Copied"), (either close down Photobucket or leave it open to copy another Html Code for another pic to put your post) - go back to the forum and in your post, where you want the pic to be, put your cursor there. Go to the top menu bar of your computer, click on "Edit" down arrow to "Paste" and the Html Code will be placed in your message. When you hit the "Preview Message" button after you are done with your msg, and it goes to the next page, you will see your pic in with your msg. You can add several pics inside a msg doing it this way. If you want to post a link to another web site, highlight the link in your web browswer link, go to "edit" in the top menu and "copy" it, then go back to your msg and do the same as above, put your cursor where you want the link to be and go back to "Edit" and then "Paste." Once you get the hang of it, it's easy.

Have a wonderful time playing with all your new treasures and please post pics when you can. As said before, we just love the pics in here, it's like looking at a magazine I think.

BOY OH BOY!!! I can't wait to see pics of that haul! Sal gave you good advice there... I also use photobucket and find it extremely easy to use. So come one, get on it and lavish us with some eye candy!!!

LOVE the old toolbox! Will you put a plant in it? I really like the look of your blue bottle on a dowel. Sometimes simple is better... Wouldn't hurt to try all your bottles like that in one bed (with yellow flowers). If you don't like it, it will be easy to change. You did great on sales this weekend!

Sounds like such a fun day for your family. I hope the kids found some 'treasures' too. You really scored on the cast iron stuff. WOW. I may have to hitch ride with Tinfoil and head your way. Sounds like your large light in the middle is a mogul base. You can still get them, but they're getting harder to find. I can't see a switch on the bottom, so assume it does not have the night light. Many in that time-frame did, especially if it had that onyx insert on the base. It would have a small switch on the base. I agree with Linda this one looks forties up to mid fifties. I don't know about the shade. So many of them were covered in a plastic film many people left on the shades to protect them from dust, it may be original, but most of the old ones had scorch marks where heat from the incandescent lights left their mark. I also suspect it may be a replacement somewhere down the line, albeit a retro one. The shallow-depth cylinder style (mid century modern) shade starts to become more common by mid-fifties, as opposed to the inverted vase-shape and is not so often seen in this more traditonally styled lamp.

you are in but it just says US. I thought I might like to go there fore yard sales!!! LOL

Hurray for you!! Yes lots of pictures please! My weekend was a bust for treasures. But I did get some yard work/weeding done.

Hit some garage sales near Meadeville, Pa. with my sister.
Went to a huge sale and there were no prices on anything.
She picked up 2 great re-cycled green wavy glass (from Portugal) bottles with cork tops. she will give these to her dil's for beach glass, one square clear glass vase, pyrex baking dish, 2 small items. Owner said, "build up a pile and I will tell you how much: $6.
I had a small candle holder and a sad "wind chime" made of beach glass (only wanted the glass) and he wanted $3. Was not happy. He took $2, but my sis got 2 really great bottles.
