strange black berry wilt

Hi,

I am relatively new to growing black berries. The vine has pretty much taken over in the spot I put it last year. Now the entire plant looks awesome and I'm awaiting the blackening of the berries, and I went out today and noticed that one of the tips of the shoots is completely wilted. It's a newer shoot. I also noticed that there was a black line about 4" from the tip of the shoot. It looks like something may have chewed on it at one point, but it definately didn't go all the way through the plant. I don't spray this plant and did notice some japanese beetles on the plant but thus far it didn't seem to be affecting the vigor of the shoots. We've also had some really hot weather the last couple days, but the rest of the plant is not affected. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Kelli
