no weld dragonfly

Okay Sandy here it is. It is a little on the crude side but okay for the first attempt. I'm working on the how-to picture file but there were a lot more steps to this one than my welded ones.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the latest.

OOOoohhhh! I am SO sorry to hear about your photobucket account....guess I need to see if mine survived! Now, come on Tinfoil....you know your critters were just dancing a happy dance and daring you to get those creative juices flowing.....can't wait to see your next creation! DH always looks forward to what you've been up to....we figured you had abandoned us for the high country. Hope you found that cooler weather....there sure hasn't been any in Virginia...in fact it's been like a steam bath here for weeks. Glad you're back...hope you find your photos!

When I say the subject line, I thought the old moderator was back! However, to my surprise there was your 'Spike' and the name fits perfectly for sure. What a creative use of materials. Makes me want to go to the railroad tracks and poke around, and wish I was back in Texas on the farm for some barbed wire. Oh well, maybe soon :-) On the bright side, I do have some of those old flat head nails and copper and brass wire..even some wire clothes hangers. While my 'Spike' will be smaller, maybe he will still be cute. Might have to name 'her' Nailie? Rambling, but thinking, and thanks for sharing 'Spike'. He's the neatest dragonfly I've seen in a long time.

The leaf is made of rebar welded in a leaf shape. DH used old countertop (the new kind that's solid through) and cut pieces to fit in the openings. Then, we painted them green...you can see the green flecks in the countertop material when you see it in person.

Well they are flatware knives.

Robert I was just joshing you. Money I don't have a lot of, patience I do. I bet the photos will be just perfect, and easy to follow, the same as all your projects have been. Thanks loads for not YELLING at me......lol
