good job Kay. I would certainly need to take a big truck to go, lol. Then my DH would get upset with me, lol. You know when I married him he had welding equipment, got rid of it cause I agreed he did not need it...shoot. But that was over 30 years ago, it would be old now. take pics when you get them fixed up....and I want to go next time. Not that I need metal or material for sure, just want to go. June

To Cait, I don't know how far out in the country you live, but these kind of places must be everywhere. They're just not on the radar of most people. Ask some mechanical types, and they can probably steer you to them. If you drove past this place, you wouldn't think it's open to the public. When I see places like this, I always barge in and ask if anyone can shop there. 'Pick a Part' car junk yards are fun too. Do they have them in Australia? You'll need your own tools there. Cars have lots of fun parts. Linda

I love that wire basket luvs. I have saved a plastic fan blade to try to make a flower with this spring too although DH keeps trying to sneak it into the trash. Gotta keep my eyes on him. ha ~Anj

GREAT stuff,wow! I'm wanting flowers from fan blades,too,just like the ones I saw here on the sheds.

I can't wait to get some pots with flowers in the basket--I found a perfect spot for it already.

I need to search on here for the other fan blade flowers. I know some of these ladies had made them for their sheds. Don't really have a shed space to put them, so was thinking I might need to attach it to galvanized pipes (or maybe PVC would work) so I can poke it in the ground.

Hey Anj, tell him to just wait until he sees how pretty your fan blade flower turns out! Sometimes men just have no "vision" for the possibilities.

Cait, I'm sure you have car salvage yards over there--might just take DH for a "walkabout" to see what you might find. With your creative mind and talents, I am sure you will find lots of cool stuff to repurpose.

Bright, there were some great old rusty wagons and wheelbarrows there. I really liked the wheelbarrow with the metal wheels but forgot to ask the guy what he would charge for it.

June, you should go with Linda just for the fun of seeing it all. She's a great "tour guide", like I said before, she sure knows where to shop. ;o)

I would love to get in yard to work also...but with temps like 33 when I got up this am....well, I still have flowers burning up in the cold. I have lost a lot of plants. Of course that is just an excuse to buy more, lol. Need to replace some roses this year. We are redoing the front this year. I just have some totems, tippy pot and 3 naked BBs out there. Other wise my dd claims her own front yard, hmmm, wonder why. I do what I want in my little secret garden and we both do the back yard. And it needs redoing this year also cause of all the freezes we had here.

I am seeing all kinds of ideas around on tv and in books and have a mental list of what to look for at the salvage yard. Last summer I sorted a lot of my hardware pieces so I could finally use them. so I am excited to go with Linda to the salvages.

Hi June, I have cut back most all of my plants. I am hoping they are all going to make it--will just have to wait and see. All my roses have new growth on them, so I sure hope we don't get anymore freezing weather! Calif. plants are just not used to that! ;o(

I have a very small yard, so I am always walking around with my junk "treasures" trying to find the perfect spot for them. I also find it much easier to find and haul things home than it is to actually turn them into the perfect thing for my garden! Ha ha

Glad you are going to go with Linda, know you will have fun. Hey, a couple of words of advice for going to the metal salvage yard--don't wear anything white, and bring along some gloves! LOL Maybe I will get to meet you one of these days too. ;o)

Thanks. I haven't been on the sewing/quilting forums much, just lurked a little. I've been sewing my whole life and make quilts out of old stuff too. Many of them aren't on photobucket yet, but will post more when time allows. Most things I make look alike, and I call it all 'Trash to Trash'. OMG I am drooling! The junk, the fabric..... Swooning! How does it work in the metal salvage yard? Do you pay by pound?

Hi, The metal yard charges by the pound. I pay around $5 each for the road signs, sometimes a little more or less. Depends who's doing the pricing. June and I went today. I posted a couple more pictures on the sewing salvage page of my album. If you're ever in the LA area, let me know and I'll give you directions or meet and take you. Linda

Hi Barbara--nice to see you joining in here. I would suggest that you start with the tipsy pots--so easy to make and look really good when the plants start hanging over. And it is fun when people see them and say "how did you do that?" LOL

Glad you ladies had fun. Linda is a great tour guide isn't she? Hopefully, we can talk her into taking us on another excursion soon.

Welcome to the forum, know you will enjoy checking out allot of the old posts, or just type in any topic in the search box--like bowling balls, benches, etc. and it will pull up the posts related to that.
