I think that would be a pretty easy project. Depending on what the thing is that the teacups are on. You would just drill a hole in the middle and the clock is easy to attach from there. I bet the tea cups could be glued on with GE Silicone glue. You can buy those clock kits at any craft store like Michaels...JoAnn etc.

I have a box of cups and saucers out in the shed I collected a while back to make birdfeeders. I gotta get busy making these clocks so I can pay off my credit card!

Wow that gives me ideas too! Very easy project to do though. And yes you could use either GEII or Gorilla. Either would work. That's a good idea! Geez, now I have another project to add to all my others!

I did a search on clock kits and found parts at the link below. It looks like the motor would be about $14.95 and the large arms $16.95 for a set. I'm not sure what else it would entail but you sure as heck could make that clock for less than $315!

I love that clock! I think that I'd have to make the board some color other than white so that the cups would pop.

I'm not surprised at the price. When we make things we don't keep track of our labor. I was recently surprised when I began my first commercial venture with my stuff. It takes longer than I thought make them! I guess time flies when you're having fun!

Of course none of us would pay that. We just have fun making our own!

Haha! my sister and her husband just made me one of these for my birthday - it's HUGE and it's HEAVY and I LOVE IT!! definitely didn't cost them $315 in materials ... but i would say about $200 as they (my sister) wanted to make sure each cup had a design in the middle of it. but the time that went into it makes up for the rest.

I guess the price would depend on the teacups used ... if it was fine china or antique china that would put the price up. But you certainly could make it a lot less. I imagine it would be big and fairly heavy. If you owned a tea shop or little cafe it would be the perfect piece for the wall.

I saved that pictured from a Country Living magazine. I would use 1/2 in plywood, but you would have to lay out your cups & saucers to know what size you would need. Hopefully it wouldn't be over 4 ft. wide. To hang it I would do like they do large picture frames with eye screws an wire. I would paint it using one of those crackle designs. Light gray on bottom an cream on top. Got some samples from Lowe's an they look great.

You might be able to make it a little smaller if you used demi-tasse cups and saucers. And I wonder what it would do using plexiglass as the background piece. I know that would increase the price some but it might reduce the weight.

That's unique, but IMHO it doesn't really show off the beauty of the cups and saucers that well. You would have to look at it from the side to see the pretty designs! Luvs

And if you watch at the thrift stores..you find old pictures that have clock works in them..Or buy a clock at the thrift store and use it's works.

Take a AA and a C battery with you when you are looking...so you can check and see if it works.

You have a point there, but what if you glued the cup onto the saucer upside down, in other words with the bottom of the cup sticking out. Then you could put the numbers (12 - 3 - 6 - 9) in the circle on the cup bottom.

Tea cups , some of them are worth 20 and 40 dollars in antique stores some are more. it might be made smaller with polymer clay really easy.
lots of options for the crafters out there.

Do you think the tea cups could be minatures since the clock is 30" wide? I am not sure, it talked like they were regular tea cups but I don't know!

We have the Umbra factory here in Buffalo and there is an outlet store. Last time I was there they also had a really cute clock for a child's bedroom made of little toys and beanie babies. That also looked pretty easy to do.With 12 little toys from the thrift store I am sure that could be done pretty cheap as well. Beanie Babies for the granddaughter and matchbox cars for the boy.
