Tin Can Man
Comments (22)Deb, to keep it from rusting, spray it with clear spray paint. You could clean the rust that it has, with some steel wool. Most of us like rust, and would THEN spray with clear, to keep it in good condition. I have had one about half done for a long time--maybe with this post I can be inspired to finish it...... I bought sardine cans for the feet---My cats loved the sardines-LOL...See Moretin can men

Comments (6)In my area, the metal roof with screws, was about the same as the architectual shingles. Quicker install on the metal, thus saving some labor costs. Then I learned of the standing seam metal roof, with no exposed screws, and it was about twice as high. But still a little quicker install time over shingles. I figure this roof should last for my lifetime, my kids lifetime, and maybe even the grandkids. Even if it is just for our lifetime, I do not want dh to have to crawl around on the roof to replaces shingles, or washers from screws that have dried up, etc. They started rolling out the metal today :-) Oh this is a 24 gauge medium bronze. Comments (3)this has a lot to do with if you can secure the new roof to the roof deck and that has a lot to do with how your house was built. Some metal roofing MUST be placed directly on top of a solid, smooth, roof material. Others can be installed with an air gap between the old roof and the new metal roof. Wood strips (purlins) are placed over the old roof and attached securely to the roof deck. The new metal roof is then attached to these wood strips. I think this would be possible for you to do. However, I would think that maybe removing the roof would be worth your while, as you may get some money for it because many metals are very expensive right now and companies are willing to buy and recycle it. Removing a metal roof would be easier than removing an asphalt roof also....See Moremzclassic
