Another fun challenge! I've had this in mind to do for quite a while and never thought I'd ever get around to doing it but this month's POTM fit my idea so well so I had to get it done. Her arm does raise up and down when you pull on the beads in the back. I've posted 2 pics so you can see the 'mechanics' of it (not really very mechanical) and a closer-up.

Hi June, The fence is on hold right now. I doubt that it will be hung before the pool goes away. I'm leaving it close enough that if the back yard is done and there's time left, I can work on it. DS got some freak rain in Elsinore today. Big storm. Did you get any? We're looking for ideas for the back yard, but nothing is for sure yet. I'm thinking of putting switchback trails on the slope, but have to find out how to do them. That could save a lot of labor and materials compared to trying to terrace it and eliminate the need for stairs. There will be lots of bricks on sand. Still looking for bricks. There are a lot here now, but not nearly enough. Maybe I'll get a potm done someday, lol. Linda

Thanks for all the great comments. I do not know what kind of stone it is...dbrother owned 30acres on top of a mountian in Tenn. It's kind of a purple color. He told me that it cleans up real nice with some acid. Wish he hadn't sold the land, brought me a bunch before he did though. I won't be movin it anytime soon cause it's reall heavy!! I was thinkin he needs a hat of some sort.

Okay. Here's a pic of silly plants but they make me happy! Thanks to a quick trip to Home Depot over the weekend I've added sweet alyssum, marigolds (yes, marigolds in winter!) to go along with my violas and my Osmanthus fragans 'Fudingzhu' which has been blooming for months now. It doesn't look much like winter today. Laugh. It's sunny and in the forties. Tomorrow we're supposed to get snow and sleet so of course the marigolds will be kept inside. :) Mike, It's been too long for me to remember the intensity of scent from the chloranthus (though I do have buds on it as well as on my Chinese Perfume Plant). If I ever get blooms at the same time I'll try to compare them for you. :) -Robert

Wow...Where did 10 days go? Still so much to be done. But: Baseboard is almost complete...Only bathrooms left to go. Much more trim and cabinet doors finished with Waterlox. Stairway railing about 2/3 done, outdoor railings all done, and so are front steps. We'll have the final electrical inspection tomorrow, and, hopefully, the final inspection by the end of the week/early next week. The best news is that our bank has agreed to go ahead with the appraisal and closing the loan as soon as we have our final, even though trim, cabinet doors, and other such cosmetic details aren't all finished, and we were able to extend our interest rate lock. No end in sight to remaining projects, but that's OK if we can get our loans taken care of and we can live here. Not exactly my dream move-in, but I'll take it! Oh, Cait, what a nice project! Is she rigged kind of like those wood jumping jack Santas that you find at Christmas time?

I'm still looking at outsider artists' work, hoping for inspiration that is in my ability to undertake. My new fav artist is 'Ab the Flagman' who has work at Fay Gold Galleries in Atlanta.

Hi Cait, That is really cute!! Primary colors are my favorite, and I like that it's graphic and the design is simple. It looks like it can be seen clearly from a distance. My son visited Australia a couple of years ago and brought back a book filled with MAMBO stuff. Wow, that stuff is hilarious!! Have you seen it? Linda

I am so glad it was not what I thought when my old eye looked at it...I thought it was a blue bottle and I thought how did she do that...cause with all these new bottles, I gotta make it. Phew, it was not a blue bottle, lol. June

Linda, I never heard of MAMBO. Will have to look that up.

HAHA June, blue bottles... I've yet to see a blue bottle here in Oz, but then again I don't to bars (or pubs as they're called here)
