started off the New Year right....LOL

Yesterday I stopped in Goodwill to drop some clothes off, and boy did I hit the jackpot. LOL. Sure made for a great start to the New Year!

I just can't resist pretty glass pieces, for inside or outside. And finding these two at Goodwill had me ecstatic! I paid $7 for the purple and green vase, its 16" high and VERY heavy glass. The pedestal dish was $5, its 14" across. Both would be beautiful in the sun, in my garden, but I think these might be staying in the house.

The wood rabbit is very heavy and 12" long, 8" high. The cobalt bowl is also really heavy, and is 6" by 8". Its going to be the base piece for my next cobalt totem. The colorful vase is 8" high and will go really good with other pieces in my Teapot 'n Gnome Garden.

Great haul, woman! You did hit the jackpot! I'm the same way with pottery...can't resist dishes and such! Love the rabbit and the colorful piece for your teapot garden...is the rabbit going there? If so, needs to be WHITE! LOL!

It is the love we have for them and the love they have for us, both without reservations, that make losing them so hard. A family member is missing disrupting our routine and leaving empty space. Now who will hear our secrets, comfort us and celebrate with us? I feel your loss and cry with you but I also know that you have a big heart with room for a new furkid. Let yourself cry and grieve and you will know the right time for an additional love. Missy will never be forgotten. The oval tile is on both the Ann Sacks site and the Heath Ceramics site. On the Ann Sacks site, it's listed under "Heath". so I guess Ann Sacks sells it for them, as they do other designers. With that being said, maybe it would be "slightly cheaper" to go to the source itself, although that's not going to make much of a difference as these are much more $$ than I ever expected to spend. If it winds up being THE tile, it might be worth it. basianov - the pantry cabs are actually a light grey and that tile on the right does pick up some of that color. I'm just not sure I want to do marble. I did also see the other day a 1/2"X2" calcutta marble mosaic that was stunning, so that's an option as well, but I just wonder if marble will take the kitchen in a different direction than I was planning. CEF- I keep waiting to see a picture of the living room, pretty please with cookie dough on top? ;) So glad you are able to sell the doors and make some money back. Also, yay for having a properly working car!! Pinkelephant- I am so intrigued by your old school house turned home! I'm curious, do you happen to have any pictures from when you first bought it? It sounds like it has already been through a lot and now you are renoing it again. Your little girl is gorgeous!!! Sorry I couldn't help more with layout, it must be b/c of the time of year it is, the board seems kinda dead. You might try posting another new thread asking for layout help. There are some amazing layout guru's on here, you just have to be lucky enough to catch them. Good job though on shoring up walls, getting window openings set at this time of year, I know I don't want to be outside working right now!! OB2B- I.e. refinishing wood floors, I don't envy you. The first place hubby and I bought was a 60 year old house, remodeled in the 80s and they installed wood paneling and carpet over the wood floors. When we bought it, the first thing we did was pull off the paneling and pull up the carpet. We ended up refinishing all of the original floors ourselves before we moved in. I can't imagine trying to refinish wood floors in a house while living there! The dust and fumes are so pervasive!! Good luck! Also, on a personal note? Only 10 lbs?!?! You are doing much better than I am with reno fatigue!! Terri- I really want to see the before/after pics now!!! From the pic with your son, those trees were massive!! It must have made a huge difference to remove them! Annkh- I'm not a skier but those views look amazing!! I'm glad to hear you had a wonderful time on your ski trip. Schick- I, too, have all our taxes done, just waiting for a few forms to come in before submission. Are you good with electrical or are you going to have to hire it out? Our first house had to have the main replaced to bring it up to code, we were able to do it ourselves. When we added my kitchen last year, we added a sub panel for the new addition and, once again (thankfully) we were able to do it ourselves. I have only, in the past few years, come to realize why renovations are so expensive for the average homeowner. I was raised with a dad that taught me plumbing, electrical, car work, etc. (Yes, all work was done with a permit and passed inspection) No wonder others reno budgets are so high!!! I would have never been able to get even a fraction of what I have if I had to pay others to do it. I hope you are able to replace the main without eating into your bathroom reno too much! As for me, we left Saturday afternoon for them to spray insulation. We came back Sunday night with a vomiting kid and I spent the next few days trying to tend to her AND get work done. She was well enough to go to school on Tuesday so when the baby was napping, I pulled (what used to be) the window in the master bedroom which will now be a doorway to my closet. I also went in my "closet" and pulled all the decking off of what used to be the outside of the house. Just need to finish running electrical in there, build a header and install a door, and get drywall up and I will be able to start planning the design of the closet and planning the reno on the master bath. The bricks were delivered yesterday and the brick layers are supposed to be here tomorrow to start bricking. My dad is the one calling the shots on the reno since it is his (and my moms) place and I think he is honestly just ready for it to be done. We hired out pouring the slab. We hired out the septic (necessary since you have to have the proper licensing, etc. for it to pass inspection.) Hired out some framers to do the HIPP roof and now hiring brick layers to come and do the brick work. Most of this (except the septic) we could do ourselves but he is ready to be done and I don't blame him one bit!!

You did start your 2009 junkin' right! Everything is so pretty! I love that green and purple vase. And don't let me near that rabbit because I'd slip him in my purse - heavy or not! lol! You sure hit the jackpot! I can't wait to see what you will do with them!

luna, you'd need more than a purse to fit this bunny in.

Once in a blue moon...or should I say PURPLE, I really find some incredible things at my GW. Often when I'm looking at stuff on shopgoodwill.com, I see so many terrific items and think why not HERE?? Then along comes a day like this one, and I'm thrilled to pieces.

I'll have to finish up my new cobalt totem, and then figure out where the heck to put it.
The little colorful vase wants to go in my Teapot n Gnome Garden, which is about full now! I need to find more things to make something of it. Actually, I believe I have another one of those plates from Dollar Tree somewhere, that I used on the first Teapot Totem, with these same colors. Hope my memory is right in thinking that, LOL.

Wish all y'all COULD be here and go junking with me.
Maybe you should buy or rent the house across the street from me as a TIME SHARE....LOL...what fun we could have then!

Karen you had a really graet day. What a find esp the pedestal dish. Love it. I hit GW yesterday too. Will post pix after all are dry. But did find another lite brite in great condition for my GD to have at home. Had pegs and pic included. All for $2 and a little cleaning.

Toomuch, I seldom plan ahead. I see it, I like it, I buy it. Then I wonder what the heck I'm going to do with it or where I'm going to put it. LOL. I wish I had a plan at times.

NM and Marlene, just put your list in the junk train box and maybe I'll get one of you. That would be fun. I LOVE finding stuff for people. None of my local friends nor any of my family likes this sort of thing at all. sigh.
All of you here are my only GJ connection. I'm just glad I found you, alone was sure depressing! (Especially when others think you may be a bit nuts, LOL.)

Karen, I do believe you have a junk angel watching over you and guiding you to the "GOOD STUFF"!! Those glass pieces are 2 die for! That pedestal vase loks like it came out of an antique shop, just beautiful. You got a cute new bunny there, too! I know you will have a lot of fun with your new treasures!!

Karen, so glad you posted this.....finds are beautiful. But I am glad you posted cause I thought I was the only one who dropped off bags at the back door and drove around front to spend money. Told my DD I had to support them any way I could. LOL. June
