It may not bloom its first year. Does it have any leaves coming out or leaf buds swelling? Does the tree look like it is still alive? This should be a good variety for Visalia.

Very nice looking Rabbiteyes! Rabbiteyes are very sensitive to fertilizers, expecially when young. I only use organinc ferts on Rabbiteyes for that reason. Its hard to burn them with organics and they dont need much in the way of fert anyways. I would go ahead and prune the plants now to remove the affected leafs and my experience with Rabbiteyes is they will get very long and whippy branches if not cut back a couple times a year. Your fruit will be in the dirt next season if not. Plus it slows them down alittle bit, strengthens there branches and produces more shoots at every cut so more fruit next season. I try to tip the branches every 8 to 10 inches or so and will cut the bull shoots at about 4ft. They can get out of reach in a hurry if not prunned. I stop tipping around Aug so they can produce there fruit buds on the remaining new growth. Great looking plants though;)

All right, I have "renovated" (removed all leaves and stems down to about an inch above the ground) and transplanted my strawberries into two larger containers. I will update this thread again when (if) they grow back to let posterity know how it worked. The tomato is still limping along, but it does seem to like the shade better. The tomatoes are mostly small and ripening slowly, but taste pretty yummy. I guess I'll just let it finish its cycle and use a better soil and better plant stock next time!

Funny that you should mention the leaf burn! I live in Southwest Missouri and had leaf burn on the new growing tips of Orange Dream both potted and in the ground. I was in Champaign Illinois at the Midwest Regional Hosta Society Convention and every Orange Dream I saw in the gardens there was burnt the same way. I wounder if it was the wet Spring we experienced that caused it? Lee
