Heck, I even rent a storage unit. My shed ( about 10x10 is ALL garden stuff. 1 car garage, I can barely get my car in ( no passsengers can get in while it's in the garage).

Yep all distant couzins!!! I have tons of space in the finished basement... I keep adding more stuff!!! Might I say unfinished stuff. Alot of us have that in common (sp?)

No, I don't have enough room! I live in a 6-bedroom house with an oversized garage, and there's no room to park the cars in the garage; they have to sit out in the weather. The husband had a shed installed near the house to use as a garage substitute. Hahahaha. There's a wall of shelf units in the dining room (very attractive-not) that holds some of my work in progress and supplies, and a wall of shelf units in the office that holds boxes of easel backs and glass for picture frames, etc. Out on the back porch are several bins of stuff that the weather doesn't affect (small tiles, marbles, etc.) and on the front porch way down on one end, trying to look inconspicuous, are stacks of glass waiting to be broken. The laundry room is half taken over by me for my grouting area. Sigh. I could use a big building that is all mine - a lovely huge studio, that's my dream.

I think y'all need to quit beating yourselves up. I looked in my shed this weekend and I know there is absolutely, positively no way I would have hauled home that so much broken plates and tiles.

I am thinking someone should do a scientific study, cuz then they would discover that if you put certain craft material in a dark place for a couple of months, the stuff spontaneously engages is some sort of breeding cycle. (Same thing happens with wire hangers)

On the other hand, flagstone and pavers are clearly canabilistic. I do the math, swear I have enough, but when I lay the stuff out, I always end up back at the hardware store buying more. See, it aint our fault. Honest.

OMG! Is that what's happening? Another box of tiles showed-up in the basement last weekend!

Amazing how if I haven't worn something in the last year it goes to Goodwill, but if there's a broken dish in the house, it can stay around forever!

There's saying that fits us all to a "T" - Wish I knew the author!!! Read it somewhere in a gardening article about weeds and why you have to mulch almost immediately after clearing a bed.

"Nature abhors a vacuum" - course, I ABHOR the vacuum, too!! Oops - guess that's another topic for another time LOL!!

A 6-bedroom house???...(I wish!)Try living in a small- 6-rooms- house, a one-car carport, a small barn/shed in the backyard...with 5 adopted cats...My mother used to say that you can keep a large house cleaner than you can a small one...Not likely that I'll ever personally know...We had some old doors that I use as a table top outside...using stacked crates to support the "table" stack my junk on top and under it and cover with a plastic cloth...you can put alot of stuff in those crates too...This cannot be seen from the front of the house. Am I the only "junker" with limited space...? ha...

My grandfather had at least seven buildings filled with junk when he died. My aunts and uncles donated, sold, threw away, etc. It took months. I wouldn't do that to my kids. I do have some stuff, but I've had to become realistic about what I can accomplish in my lifetime. Fortunately, I'm still in a phase of life where I need things. I try to focus on that. Eventually, I guess I'll have to actually finish something and then sell it.

We just moved into a 1100 square foot house. No basement, no garage. So..I now limit myself to working on only 3 or 4 projects at a time (sheepish smile) and have to completely finish at least one before starting another. I have to admit that it does tend to curb the creative juices at times..sigh...but on the other hand, I am an organizing friek..it's gotta go in the right spot, so I can find it when I want it...I've TRIED to leave a project on the kitchen table...two days is tops...then I have to clean it up...I'm sick...I know it.

I remember touring the Biltmore in Ashville, NC, and thinking to myself, "boy, I could really fill this place up!"

My basement is my primary work area in the winter, altho my 2 car garage is fill is filled with "warm weather projects". Over Christmas we had friends over who commented that the garage must be my workroom, my husband told them that the garage was "Sandyland west" and the basement was "Sandyland east". We all got a big laugh but I was actually excited that my husband has reconciled to the fact that ITS ALL MINE!!!

Welp, I have a 6 bedroom house and 3 other buildings.
For the Mom said you can keep a bigger house cleaner than a small one, please come here to help me will you? lol

I have a work shed and a storage shed(the bigger of the two). When the storage shed fills up its time to give away some of my treasures, or sell (rarely). I give alot for Christmas. At least once a year I open it to friends to treasure shop..... :) Its really difficult to restrain myself, I see beauty and potential in so much..... But have to be realistic about my ability and space. I do have an inside studio space, but thats mostly filled with fabric and inside craft materials.....

Welcome to all my relatives. I live in a small 4 room house. DH has one bedroom for his office, stuff,& twin bed on boxes. Mine has my huge computer desk, and no floor space to put anything of any size. My cat sleeps by my electric radiator heater. I have long plastic storage boxes under my bed, a small four drawer unit in my closet, & am hiding a new gardening book that I paid #30 for & that was 1/2 price, an extra shelf hung on the closet door piled high and underhung w/ clothes. Storage container under my "puter desk. A bench at the foot of my bed piled high w/ papers & books, also on my bed that rotates from my desk chair to bed day/night. And the list goes on. My living room is called a ware house by one son, but it is oxygen blessed w/ way of the many house plants and I want more. My kitchen has 2 aero gardens hung on the wall, plants on all windosw sills, DH put 2 extra shelves on 2 windows. I use plastic shelving units because the kitche is bereft of adequate cabinets. DH built shelving down the basement stairs for pantry & it is maxed out w/ food.
Oh yes, the bathroom is a postage stamp size room for one person unless one is in the tub.
The steps are over populated w/ stuff also. The bottom of the steps received a shelf unit yesterday that is not full yet. The window has 2 plastic crates w/ a box on top for storeage, w/ 2 6" pots of onion sets on top w/ 8 noses up to get the afternoon sun. 2 rose bushes live there and the garlic pot went outside 2 days ago. I finally brought up the last 5 amaryllis buulbs from the basemnt yesterday, cleaned out the pots, cut off the roots and repotted them w/ fresh dirt that lives outside the back door on the walk w/ 2 other bags of potting amendments. My basement is a vertiable warehouse of food, dishes, laundry machines, storage storage, junk, empty boxes, exercise equipment that we threaten to use some day. My DH keeps paint cans, et all in one corner........ His garage is worse, no car has been in the 2 car building since we moved here 3 years ago. Sunday he hauled out an oil tank to make room for shelf units so he could unload tools etc. from his car plus the stuff he brought home from his mothers, she is moving into assisted living...
He put up a canopy for his car, and it only fits 2/4 way under it now because of the stuff he hauled home, & I stacked there. Being a handy mand he has all kinds of advantages to adopt other peoples cast offs that might be usefull someday.
Not to mention what is lined up against and behind the garage, including the suburban he got 25 plus years ago, along w/ the other 2 suburbans that live in the front of the garage along w/ my buick and the 23 foot trailor we hauled to Oregon and back 17 yeass ago, overloaded and had to stop to put stuff in a storage unit that we retrieved coming back a year later, & only 1/2 of it came back... and it is full too.....another trailor lives on daughters property, full of goodies, like a small pot belly stove I want to use for a plant stand someday, and my 30 year old Mother Earth magazines.
Hoarding is an addiction according to an article in Readers Digest last month. If/when I move to my won home I will have a gigantic "curb sale"
Not to mention all the 70 plus pots of flowering plants in the yard. When I get my own home they go w/ & some that will get dug up too.
3 violet leaves I propagated produced 13 babies & I put the original leaves back in water.

well, I am not a hoarder and the stuff is stuff I will use as soon as I can...that is all is a 8x10 aluminum shed that is a low roof. I have a rented storage shed where we used to live that is 10x15, very high season. Not packed to top, I tend to cover the floor and then pile it on. But that is mostly stuff out of our home in case we ever have our own again (live with DD and GSs). I have a 10x20 in the town we live in. The excuse for that one is to put my stuff I can get to quickly to make things or get to material cause I can not pile it all over the DD home. It to is floor covered and the aisle stacked with quick curb finds that I will go and take out and restack by category (yea right).
The more I organize the messier stuff seems to get. Like I put 2 of my dressers here in the living room to put immediate projects in to get off floor....did not work, looks worse with the dressers. I want a small 2 bedroom house and a 40 cow sized barn, lol. But I do not hoard, lol.

What a funny thread! Of course we do not horde, and we don't keep things that aren't absolutely necessary to life. Try living in a small three bedroom house with a total of six people, a pit bull, a blue tongue lizard, and a box turle, and no garage. It gets rather crowded around here sometimes!

We have a tiny house too (1100 sq ft) with no basement, attic or garage. DH has a woodshop that is 10x12 and he built an addition about the same size. There is a screenhouse attached to that and then my "Potting Shed" that is 12x24. I have always hated clutter, but as my gardening, garden junk and mosaic hobbies have grown, I find I have more stuff than I ever thought I would. My plan this spring is to get rid of all the older stuff I have no interest in anymore, so I can make room for the stuff I really care about.
