Comments (4)Tahitian Bridal Veil needs very high humidity to survive & live well. It is also really prone to spider mites if it doesn't get high humidity. I had a beautiful one when I lived in Tennessee, but once I moved back to California, it didn't survive. They hardly even sell them here because they can't survive long out of the greenhouse. If you do get one, put it in your highest humidity room in the sunniest window and use pebble trays to keep the humidity up....See MoreNovember blooms
Comments (52)That's good to hear especially since I know I sent pretty small pieces! I've started a couple cuttings too to see if the old mama roots are just tired or if the cuttings are so slow too. If memory serves, I don't think I've ever been able to get the hard peat ball off of the roots though they grew past that. Could still be a bottleneck in circulation there, IDK. If the cuttings start growing much faster than the mama, maybe I'll turn the whole thing into cuttings & kind of start over....See MoreSunset Celebration VS Tahitian Sunset
Comments (23)I have all three of those (Sunset Celebration, Tahitian Sunset and Valencia). Valencia is my fav of the three, but it is slow to establish, as has been said. But once established, it has enormous very fragrant blooms of a really unique gold-peach color. It's also slow to repeat, but oh so worth the wait. Sunset Celebration is kinda blah, normal, as roses go. Nothing too exciting about it. Nice flower for cutting and it holds indoors. But not too much in the scent department. I tried to replace it once with a rose called Scent-sation, which is the same color but supposedly fragrant. NOT! Don't go there. Scent-sation is a disease magnet with much smaller flowers than Sunset Celebration and also, no fragrance in it that I can detect. Why someone had the nerve to call it "Scent-sation" is beyond me. Tahitian Sunset is also okay, but the form of the flower is a little loosey goosey for my taste (and actually I think they blow faster than Sunstruck flowers). Sunset Celebration has more hybrid tea-ish form, while Tahitian Sunset acts more like a floribunda. Tahitian Sunset is also a quick repeater, but I don't consider it a cutting rose for bouquets. It's more of a garden color splash, mostly orange. I haven't had terrible disease issues with any of the three, but I do spray reasonably regularly. Comments (26)Hmmm, Ludi, mine came from Naylor in 2012, could be the first tissue cultures were not correct, and it is behaving and looking more like Frosted Jade and UK suggested for an alternate ID. For now, I've removed Bridal Falls from my list of hosta in the garden, and have the plant down as NOID....with Frosted Jade as the possible ID. I haven't looked at it this morning as I said I would. It was COLD this morning, and I have 3 orders to pot up, they came late yesterday from Avalon, Mason Hollow, and Sebright. I think today I get Plant Delights (just 2 new hosta). Only thing is, Avalon sent THREE gift hosta, 2 of which must be added to my total of unique hosta. I'm hoping to slip this information in quietly "entrez nous" before DonB or Jo or ILoveToGrow discovers them. For now, a real Bridal Falls is out of the question....See Morebirdsnblooms
