If the lilies look like they've been chomped from the top (esp. the flower buds just chopped off and disappeared) I'd suspect deer. I'm not sure about calla, but they love Asiatic lilies. Strawbery leaves? Again, if they're totally gone not just holey, it might be deer. Though if you've got a lot of grass around I don't know. But deer did eat my strawberry leaves late last fall before I had mulched. I'd assume that they'd have plenty else to eat in the spring though since they haven't touched mine since I took the winter pine bough covering off.

inspected the plants i found a green bug on one...looked like small bettle ..definetly not an amphid. Three plants have been affected. The leave have been completed stripped. BTW.. no to get to technical but when the say to pinch the blossoms off to allow the plant develop(first year plants) can you pluck or pull them off? I tried pinching them and the blossom is still there. Should I eliminate them from the plant. This pinching thing doesnt seem to make sense to me. Sorry for the silly questions.

I think a likely candidate are earwigs or Dermaptera. They are nocturnal and can make a pretty round little hole in soft fruit though 2 mm is pretty small for an earwig. If you go out at night with a flashlight, you will find the culprit feeding if this is your pest. They are easily controlled with rolled up newspapers at the base of plants and discarded the following morning. Repeat as needed until pests are reduced. I usually think of slugs as strawberry pests, but it sounds like you are familiar with their damage. Pill bugs or roly polys (sp?) that are crustaceans can munch on strawberries, but they are more interested in them once they are overripe and soft and mushy. Lastly, we now have the spotted wing drosophila fly here in Colorado. They lay their eggs on ripening fruit, and the larvae turn the fruit to mush. I doubt this is your pest, but worth a look on the web to see if it matches your symptoms. Hope this helps and keep us posted if you find any insects in the act.
