Your best strawberry tricks - no soil rot

I have over 100 strawberry plants, and they are spread in different areas in my garden. Some in pots, planters, and some in beds.

I am doing fairly well with harvest, some are getting bit by bugs, and that's ok.

What I would like to avoid is the soil rot.

It's unrealistic for me to put black plastic under all the berries, but I have tried newspaper. That works at first, but then became a haven for earwigs.

The berries in containers, I can move around so that they hang over the sides and don't touch the soil. That works. But there are still many berries that touch the soil and get soft, rotten or moldy before I can harvest.

Tell me, what are your best tricks for getting to eat all the strawberries that grow and turn red!
