A whole lot of things in my yard have mites this year, spider mites, some are getting so heavy they are webbed over. I don't know why, it was very wet earlier and cool, and I thought mites did best in hot, dry conditions. Beans have them, as well as many other plants. I've been treating certain things with dusting sulfur, and it seems to have helped quite a bit. This product should be available at most any garden center. Smells a bit funky when applying, and DON'T get it in your eyes (trust me, I found out the hard way) or they'll water and burn for a while, but it does work. I used my 'Dustin Mizer' to put out a good cloud of it on the things I wanted to treat.

Hi Leasag, I like Blue Lake pole bean (white seed) as a good basic green bean (although I like other varieties much more now). I bought mine from Territorial Seed. I've included the link below. I tried Blue Lake Black Seeded pole from Franchi last year and it is the only green bean that I actually disliked. Something about the taste did not make me happy. I live in Upsate Central New York State z5 and planted my Romano Italian Pole Beans (by transplant as I always do) on Memorial Day Weekend. I have the most fantastic looking vines any Gardner would envy, and "Jack" would die for. Problem as above "No Flowers", "No Beans". First time ever that's happened and we have had a pretty hot summer with many days in the 90's. I'm ready to start cutting down as the vines are so long, I would not be surprised in the 12' or more foot length that they are stressing out my pole and string system to the point getting ready to crash to the ground. As from this post it sounds like the heat may be the cause. It's to bad we love beans and tomatoes in oil. And of course for the second year we've got the blight on tomatoes. But at least we'll have tomatoes till September.
