Dwarf apple tree bark shedding help please

cudavid

Hello to all,

I have 4 dwarfs in for 14 years. about 4" caliper. This years one has bark split / lifted from tree trunk, at ground level, up about 10", affecting about 1/3 to 1/2 of the trunk., I peeled away all loose stff, saw one white worm.

I pruned, and I oil sprayed in early spring, then several insecticides and fungicide treatments. Tree seems solid under where bark was. Should I worry? what to do?

What caues this? I alaways spray trunks of trees when I spray.

All trees look real healthy, looks like a good crop so far.

thanks to all, Dave
