what insect is eating eggplant?

I am pretty sure - besides the cold and rainy summer, the colony of these pests are responsible for my small crop of fruits on my eggplants. As they feast, the leaves are covered with dots/holes and that sure does not help the plant. Other than that, I got them mulched, fertilized in raised beds and I get one fruit per plant - once in a 2-3 weeks!

What should I do?

Flea beetles make the small holes.

But the cold and rainy stuff is likely the reason for the poor eggplant production.

I had the same problem. I'm not sure which affected production more (the beetles or the weather) but I only have one eggplant growing on my one plant. As long as I get one, though, I'll be happy.

Lightly spread finely ground coffee grounds on the leaves and around the plant. That kept them away from my plant for several weeks.

I had a rodent (suspected it was a vole or ground squirrel) taking occasional bites out of my eggplant leaves earlier this summer. Then it stopped suddenly. Perhaps it was taken by a predator.

It could be snails or slugs. Do grasshoppers live in your area? They leave rounded bite marks, larger than you would think for an insect. Here is a link that might be useful: What's Growing On?
