Frosty Log Birdhouse Morning

A very beautiful frosty Iowa morning yesterday...

here's a little Junco bird on his way to the pergola bird sanctuary for some feed... outside my LR window. Just wanted to share...as I really need less COLD and more sunshine!...thanks to all who are posting their warmth! Jeanne S.

We had another snow storm yesterday. The birds were all over the feeders today.

Look at this little cutie with the snow on her beak from digging in the snow for the seed.

They really are magical! You've been spending your snowed in time well. I love the little gardens and the fawn and mushroom do add a lot. I used to make and sell terrariums many (could it really be 30?)years ago. I made them in those light green wine bottles with the fat bases - Almaden or some such name. My parents drank it and saved me the bottles. Mom just told me the other day that she still has some in the basement, so now that I've gotten my bottle cutter from dh for Christmas I'll have to go get them, lol. It was hard to get the moisture level right in a bottle with a tiny opening, so I think jars are probably a better route. Good luck! kathy PS I wish I'd known you all back then! Hello ladies and happy every Holiday I missed. To those of you who do know me, I am back and mentally back on track (I think). To those of you who don't, well I was I am a member, love everyone here. Went away to do some great mission work and had some very tragic things happen. Many hours of therapy later, and actually returning to the Dominican I think I have healed, I am not bitter, sad, or frightened to leave my house any more. I am able to talk about it and I feel that I can share with postive feelings now. But enough of that. Am I to late for April? Please tell me that I can play in April? Max is 4 and we just looked at Co-op preschool. HE is a mama's boy and didn't want to go to big boy school yet. Maryanne~ I have a box for you that I need to send, but um lost your address.. So Merry Christmas when it comes. Ahh. I just don't know what to say or who to say it to because I am scared I will leave someone out. I tried to read as many posts as my brain can handle, but I am sure that I will need some help. Babies and ornaments, tornados and ahhh.. I am not in Kansas anymore. Oh my gosh ladies, what sweet bird pictures. Jeanne that looks like it came straight out of 'Christmas Ideals' (do they make that magazine anymore? rememeber with the beautiful glossy perfect pictures) Love your log birdhouse. Great shot. Looks so cold and crisp.
Sandy how cute. It's been forever (well more than 20 years anyway, lol) since I saw a bird with snow on it's beak like that. Used to love all the little ones that would come around looking for food after a snowstorm. Looks like a little female cardinal

Beautiful! We love birds, I just wish I had a camera that would let me take close up shots. I had a road runner the other day, but by the time I got my camera he had run across the road. Ny DH can identify birds so it is really fun when he does that, he has books that help him indentify them.

cape ... I enjoyed your sweet "icey" cardinal pic...they are so beautiful, aren't they! Oh, but I am lo-o-nging for spring already...bought a stone bunny today at TJMaxx .... love that store (of left-overs) ... have $50 gift from my union at work for a retirement gift that I received just before Christmas...so that was a surprise...my bunny, $7.99...(I retired June 30th)...so am on the look-out for good "garden stuff!"
