Yes, the only way to tell now is to see if they produce more flowers later on. If you're in a warmer area, however, everbearers often quit flowering during the hottest months, then start flowering again once temperatures cool.

Bare root is better than real plants. They are real bare root. If you plant bare root, you nearly always know what variety they are, and they will grow and produce just as well or better than plants.

Don, I guess I just had some bad luck, but the last TWO times I bought bare root plants they all died (different times, different sources, different varieties). At least the potted plants looked vigorous and healthy when I bought them.

One way you can tell is Junebearing give out runner, so if your plant give out runner now, which starting happen to mine, they should be junebearing. Lable those have runner now, and when fall arrive, check again and see those labeled plants have flower or not. Chances is they don't, which must be junebearing.

As for plant vs bareroot, I found that bareroot is very very cheap. I got a bunch for $7, and there are easily 25 to 30 in that bunch, 80% of the bareroot ended up grow into healthy plant.

They all produce runners (june, day neutral, and everbearers) though some specific varieties do not. I agree that the best way is just to wait and see if there are more flowers after the summer heat has subsided.

My Everbearers produce way more runners then my Junebearers. Regardless, they both will run.

The difference I find in the two are the Junebearers produce less, but larger berries.
