No idea on the first one, but I do think the second one is Castanospermum australe, or Australian Lucky Bean.

And it's poisonous, so keep it away from pets and kids!

Shiver, the first plant is a Gynura..I can't recal the species. I have one, but it's sooo hard keeping. It dies then comes back..LOL. Got mine at glasshouseworks.com

I didn't know the Lucky Bean was poisonous. Almost bought one at Walmart a few wks back...glad I didn't.

Thanks for your thoughts! After looking up pics, it turns out the 2nd plant is indeed "Lucky Bean." If anyone's interested, here's a snippet I found on the web about it:

trees along river systems), this handsome tree may grow as tall as 20 m in the wild, although in cultivation it is usually considerably shorter. It has odd-pinnate leaves, to 15 cm long, with 11-15 coriaceous leaflets. Appearing with the first flush of new leaves in crowded clusters on the old wood, the 4 cm long yellow pea-like flowers turn red as they age. The fruits are cylindrical pods, to 20 cm long, bearing three to five seeds, each weighing as much as 30 gr. These are poisonous while raw, but are edible upon roasting. The tree yields a valuable timber, and it is

There's not a ton of info out there on growing Leea coccinea 'Rubra' indoors---but it's a beauty (pics don't do it justice), and I'm more than happy to give it a try. I'll keep you posted on how it grows for me...

I've grown the green one indoors (grew it from seed!) and all I can say is it does need maximum sun when growing indoors.
Mine only thrived when grown directly in the south window.

The greenhouse I used to frequent had a BIG 'rubra', and it received abundant sunlight from above....the warmer and sunnier the weather, the more it thrived.
I visited often, can you tell? LOL! - they've since closed, though:(
