Don't worry about tall, plant it now. If it doesn't get tall enough chop off and start again next year -- you will still be ahead since the roots will be well established this year and it will take off vigorously next spring. Mine had some flowers but I watch mine. you may not have noticed them. If it has berries forming it had flowers so that's what I would be looking for. Most muscadines bloom and produce berries on new growth. * Plant grape vines in an area which receives full sunlight daily. Additionally, vines should be pruned properly to ensure that the individual grapes do not shade one another during the growing season. Water * Since muscadine grapes are drought resistant, regular watering is generally not necessary. If you need to water however, overhead or hand irrigation is preferred. Soil should be allowed to fully dry out between waterings. Usually no more than 1 inch of rainfall or intentional watering per week is needed. Fertilizer * Apply � to � pound of 10-10-10 fertilizer around each vine yearly. Do not fertilize, however, after the first week of July to avoid damaging the vines. 10-10-10 fertilizer is readily available at most home improvement or lawn and garden stores. You can't use the Roma to squeeze muscadines,they don't work like grapes,clogs up the spiral.You have to cook them out on stove,squeeze them in a clean large pot,cook on stove until juice has good color,squeeze juice out with old fashioned sieve strainer,then through fine strainer to remove pulp.The peelings will retain a lot of juice,so be thorough with squeezing.My dad has a bunch of vines,and we make wine every year,tried the Roma last year,waste of time.The juice can be frozen for at least a year.Good luck.

I'm guessing wildlife IS eating up that fruit. FWIW, my Master Gardener aunt played a trick on us once when we were visiting her in WI; we came upon some wild grapes while touring a local park & started to pick the fruit, while she hung back & watched - those grapes were so sour! She laughed & explained that was why they were still on the vine.
