i've read some posts of people who had no luck growing tasty hucklerries and am blessed to be surrounded by ones which taste like they are a cross b/w kiwi and blueberry. (i'm in the hudson valley in NY). plump & succulent, we'd pick them off the bushes by the handfulls and never had to add anything to them to make them taste good in pies, pierogi etc. for a long time we thought they were wild blueberries but a state park naturalist identified them for us and told us how to tell the difference b/w huckleberries and blueberries. my grandma goes into the woods for hours in the summer and brings back buckets but she's getting older and i wanted to bring some closer to her property. does anyone know how to go about this? i DO NOT want to buy bushes commercially since the ones around us are native. i have no idea if they can be transplanted (as bushes), if i should start seedlings, if i should make a cutting etc. anyone who can help with info, i'd appreciate it.
