What's your recipe for spider mites?
Comments (14)There is a big difference in how this is applied. The Lysol never touches your soil or a live plant as your strange mixture does, you soak a dormant plant, let it dry so the bad stuff in the lysol is gone when you replant. I am well aware that not many years ago there was a movement about that promoted using H2O2 in the garden to "increase" the oxygen around the plants, but as I stated back then this too will pass as nonsense. H2O2 will burn plant leaves and is not something any organic gardener would want to use IN the garden, same as any good organic gardener would not use Lysol In the garden. But if you get your soil into good health you can easily have pests and diseases that may take strong measures to cure, hopefully not steps that will pollute the environment and anyone that needs to take those steps has not reached the point of being a full organic gardener yet....See Morespider mites; in the soil and the corms?
Comments (11)Well, I don't want to do any heavy pesticides that way. I bought some stuff called Flower Pharm from Gardener's Supply, so I'll see how that works. I guess I just need to be on top of the mites from the beginning of the season. I have lots of ladybugs, they've done a great job getting rid of aphids this year. I understand though that by the time the ladybugs get interested in the spidermites, the infestation is too bad. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and help. Jean . . .the crocosmia are in full sun, so I think they are in a good spot. The spidermites just seem to love them....See Morespider mites already
Comments (2)I ended up pulling out the plants that were the most infested and taking them to the dump in a garbage bag, and then spraying a couple of daylilies that had some but not a lot. I hate to use insecticide, but I'm so paranoid about spider mites spreading everywhere that I'll do pretty much anything to get rid of them. Looks like all the adults are dead, I imagine I'll have to spray again in a few days to get anything new that hatched....See MoreSpider mites, Spider mites...
Comments (13)I had them once on a ever green and before I notice a 2 ft area was dead. I asked a nursery man about it and he said you can't see spider mites. He said to put a white sheet of paper under the area and shake the plant, then rub your fingers across the paper. If there are blood smears they are spider mites....See MoreRelated Professionals
