Height of vanity with vessel sink
Comments (3)it will be tall but you might consider a vessel sink that sits in the counter a few inches. You might pick up one at HD and sit it on the counter to see if you like it. You can take it back after.. (that's how we decided its a bit too tall for our liking)...See Morevessel sink - where's the overflow?
Comments (9)I am currently selling five different vessel sink drains because they didn't work with my various vessel sinks (two copper and one onyx). They cost a fortune and I'll probably get five bucks each at the contractors garage sale. So, lesson learned, make sure you buy the right pieces for your sink! The onyx one was the worst frankly. But it's done...as to the height, there are a couple issues to deal with. First, the rim of the vessel needs to be at or below 36" to be "standard" (typically it's 32" on a vanity or less). Then there's the faucet from the rim of the bowl height, which should be between 5 and 6" up from the rim (put your hand under a sink faucet...you want room to move your hands around without hitting it bascially). Then the distance from the faucet to the drain...it should drain just behind the edge of the drain hole, which as noted above, will cut way down on splashing that you get with a direct center or forward placement....See MoreVessel sink drain/overflow
Comments (3)After you find a faucet you like, see about getting that same faucet with a stopper drain and a lever in the faucet body to open/close it. A very common purchase combination. The new drain replaces the one you just got, which you chuck out or give away. yes you can turn the sink around. There are no police enforcing sink orientation one way or the other. A drain drains the same too. Turning it around helps you see less of the chrome overflow drain cover. (Replating it is always an option.) Sooner or later someone might post a link to a web site where you can order cheap overflow cover plates with various finishes. Never gone looking for it myself. Post what you yourself can find. hth...See MoreBathroom sink faucet and drain mismatch? I think I screwed up
Comments (5)Thank you. The guy at the plumbing supply store said that too, that in his experience, you want the water to hit on the back side of the drain in a bathroom sink. If it hits the drain directly, the splash will be much worse. I think because in the This Old House video the guy makes a point of saying that the faucet water lines up with the drain that I thought something was off. Still, it does splash up to the handles more than I'd like, and the pressure is weak, but I guess that is a function of "new" faucets, idk. This was the third sort-of blunder (except this really isn't one?) I've made as a new home owner, so I've just gotten...frustrated. There's another YouTube video where a man replaces a sink with the Kohler Archer drop-in and uses an American Standard Chatfield faucet, and it's about an inch back of the drain....See More- 12 years ago
