Nothing like experience to learn just how much some plants can explode with growth. Cucumber beetles can certainly be a problem, but spraying them is also a problem, as it can keep the bees you need to pollinate.

Peppers are slow to produce so I would just be patient :)

Everything looks great to me as well. I agree that peppers can be slow to start as well. Next year, just try to find the best starts you can if they are root bound, it can take them a while to take off after transplanting. Also, make sure you tease the roots apart a bit when you put them in the garden, and not just set them in as is. I like to mix a little compost and starter fertilizer in the hole when I put my transplants in.

For the cucumber beetles, as long as it is not a major infestation, just squish them with your fingers or drown them in a bowl of soapy water. Leave the insecticides as a last resort. Check the undersides of the leaves for clusters of eggs and destroy them right away. If your cukes are getting out of control, you can always prune the vines back to keep them in check.. As long as you are picking the cukes regularly and the plants remain healthy they will probably produce for you up until the frost kills them. Mine don't usually make it as far as that though...I'm having fungal issues with mine this year and I may pull them soon unfortunately. Yours look great.

Those two eggplants look like they are ready to be picked. You can let them get big, but you want to harvest them while the skin is still glossy, if they ripen and the skin gets dull, the seeds will be tough and e flesh gets bitter.

Overall I would say you are having a very successful season!

Just noticed you asked about the Canteloupes, the females flowers that will turn in to the fruits have a tiny fuzzy ball at the base...that is what will become the Canteloupes once they are pollinated. You should start to see some setting soon..in my experience the Canteloupes take a while to set, my watermelons always start forming fruits first. You will probably need to support them with some slings when they star to get bigger so the weight of the melons does not damage the vines. They should last till close to frost if disease does not do them in.

It all looks very healthy. Believe me, you are having little trouble with insect pests. You'll find out how little in future seasons when they get more established.

For that reason bring in as many distantly-related crop families as possible.

Tomatoes
I don't see how you could cage the tomatoes now, so just let them sprawl if you can't get in there to tie to them to the stake anymore. Splitting might be uneven watering or just genetically programmed in the plants. When I've grown split prone cherry types I try to pick when orange to ripen inside & especially before a rain.

Peppers
Don't cut off the peppers: let them ripen. P plants are smaller like that, so look fine.

Cukes
They will grow up & over the trellis okay, so don't cut vines off. You can lift vines to find the cukes to harvest.

Squash
Yours is a small space just 1 squash plant that can be 15'+ in length & width, so removing others would work. Alternatively you can cut vine leaving just one squash on each vine. Also could build a trellis to let them climb up & attach squash to trellis with a pantyhose or tshirt sling.

In 100 degree heat you need mulch for all the plants (except lavender & go light around the rosemary)

Ideas:
-If you can purchase a bag of compost it would be better than the wood chips.
-Loose straw from a feed store. They sweep up & throw away at the end of every day. One around our place puts in a separate dumpster & you can pull it out.
-@ least 10 layers of newspapers overlapping, then topped with a bit of whatever you have (can also shred the newspaper 1st, spread, water it, then cover a bit to keep weighted down
-dried grass clippings (no herbicides used) - Do you have friends with lawns if you don't have one?
-used coffee grounds or teabags (coffee shops nearby?)
-any garden clippings or vegetable waste chopped & dried 1st
-leaves make great mulch if you have any nearby trees dropping leaves in the dry hot weather. Yesterday, while walking in Seattle we saw lots of dried bamboo leaves on the sidewalk from a hedge & spread quite a ways, so would have been a garbage bag full if raked up.

Yellow zucchini should be eaten at that size when it's smallish and tender. I can't wait for mine to start fruiting!
I think with the lettuce you can start eating the outer leaves now...not sure about pulling the whole plant or when your supposed to do that.

The yellow zucchini? lol...There are a lot of ways to prepare it. It's great in stir fries!

green beans: pick when pencil thick, you waited too long. Those swollen pods have seeds inside that will cook up like dry beans, but quicker. Plants will produce more as you pick, so pick all the pods you have like that.

lettuce: cut the entire head as it is starting to bolt (go to flower) Heat does that to lettuces in summer. If the lettuce is a bit bitter a few days in the refrigerator will lessen the flavor. Works well for me! I try to cut all when they start to bolt.

It may sprout new leaves at the base. Alternatively, replant heat tolerant lettuces for another crop in 2 months. If you have transplants from a garden center harvest is sooner.

in future: clip outer leaves whenever you want salad and it will continue to grow just making larger leaves. I prefer the young tender leaves anyway, but all are good.

coffee grounds: spread a surface mulch, can use hand fork cultivator to mix into the top few inches of soil. If left on top will mold, but won't be a bother to plants.

cukes: pick when you want as well. Usually when the diameter is even from end to end. Don't let them stay on too long to form a yellow spot. The more you pick the more the plant produces, so picking is good...
