Wanted: Seeds for Butterfly garden

I would like to start a butterfly garden enxt yr, and Someone recommended these seeds:

Dill Bouquet

Curly Parsley

Fennel "florence"

Asclepsia (any but the common kind)

Butterfly bush

I can do a trade or for postage. I have the following to offer:

Morning Glory "blue star'

Pennisetum alepocuroides 'Moudry grass'

Ornamental Pear Tree Seeds

Rose of Sharon "Red Heart"

Rose Of Sharon " Minerva"

Penstemon, "Husker's Red"

Clematis "Henryii"

Clematis "Ramona"

Yarrow..white

Shasta Daisy

Liatris Kobold Gayfeather

Purple Coneflower

Hi Tammy -

I've got some seeds you might like for your butterfly garden. Not stuff on your list, but how would you like some Tithonia and a nice mix of tall zinnias? Both are butterfly magnets in my garden. I've also got some heleniums and rudbeckias that I think you'd like, judging from your wish lists. Oh, and Big Smile sunflowers too - they are really sweet.

The rudbeckias are from a rustic mix - not exactly dwarf, but an excellent variety of colors:

I'm interested in your gaillardia and echinaceas and am most interested in doing trades for larger packs of seeds because I have a huge garden.

I had a butterfly meadow last year and the flowers most visited by butterflies were the cosmos and the Mexican zinnia:

1. Go to Membership Pages link & click. 2. Click on Edit Membership Information You can click at the bottom of the page which says, "Allow registered members to email me through this site." That way your email shows up for us and we can email you directly. That way you don't advertise your email to the entire world (or us, either). That's also the best way to trade physical addresses so we can send seeds. 3. You did a nice job making your seed list. I'll offer you some advice and you can decide if it's what you want to do. I am a beginner gardener and finding the Latin names for flowers was a big step for me. You can find them on the internet, though, and many of those on Gardenweb prefer the Latin name, or both names. It also is a more specific description. Jean - I hope you meant the 25th (the Wake Forest market is only on Saturdays). Lets aim for Saturday Sept 1st. This next weekend is a big grilling festival at the market and I need to haul as many sellable plants as possible to make up for the lackluster sales these past couple of hot and dry marketdays. I will also go through all my various stashes of plants to find more goodies by Fall Swap. And next spring I should have even more after sowing seeds all winter. I have Rue. But the caterpillars on it are eating it down to the nub so I doubt I will get seeds. I plan on finding some seed somewhere and growing a bunch of it, so at some point I will have some available. I do have some parsley potted up and some Agastache (Hyssop). If you find any of the annual butterfly weed (Asclepias currasavica)(sp?), I have been able to over winter the roots and got bigger plants the next spring. I simply dig them up after first frost and pot them up and store them out of the way. They are easy from seed also. Pentas are a great nectar plant and they are easy from cuttings but they won't overwinter outside. Good luck

Hi Helen, I just wanted to drop and note to let you know that I think of you often...the coneflowers, columbine, astible, daylillies (I'm really anxious to see what appears from those seeds) and soo many other things you shared are really popping up and looking GREAT!! Again, many thanks!! I did want to ask you to remember me if you have any more cuttings of lilacs (only had one to make it), pussy willow (started out great but lost them when I planted them out in the yard) and desert rose (never got a good start with it but read that they can be difficult). I have a greenhouse (made of windows) now and would like to try these again and maybe keep them in the greenhouse long enough to get a better start. I'll be glad to pay postage again. I am already involved in a swap. so everything on my want list marked with # means I am recieving that seed.
Susana_Mc I already have quite a bit of those seeds, but I can offer you the Penstemon Husker's Red, and Purple Coneflower you requested for an SASBE if you like.Except maybe the Ramona , as I only have a few. Just email me if you want them.
