3 Asian Pears Planted - Input Sought

The last couple of weekends have been quite tough as digging holes here in the canyon is very much a chore. The rocks and boulders found were many and sometimes so big or heavy that I needed to use a come-along to pull them out. What was suppose to be 18"x 18" holes became double that due to these needing removal...

They are planted on a slope of about a 20 degree grade, as seen here:

I know that I still have some more weeds pull. Next weekend...

As you can see, I used some of the rocks/boulders to surround the trees so I can keep the soil level in those spots. If there is something better or more appropriate that I can use to serve this purpose, please do share...

I have never planted bareroot trees before. As far as pruning goes, are there any recommendations (url to photos below)? Also, the leaves on the 20th Century have been gradually wilting and I see some black on the edges. I don't know what FB looks like, but I am a bit concerned...
