Something is eating my sweet potatos
Comments (1)I don't have your problem here, but if you are from the southeastern US, I would guess that sweetpotato weevil is the culprit. Here is a link that might be useful: sweetpotato weevil...See Moresweet potato treatment and what to eat
Comments (1)You can eat all the sweet potatoes. Handle them very gently--they bruise easily and though you can't see the bruises, they'll start to rot there. Place them in carboard boxes or slatted wood boxes and cure them in your car in the sun on sunny days. After about a week, you can store them almost anywhere in your house. Use them as they appear on top and don't dig around in the box. A cool place in a back bedroom is best, but they are the easiest of all crops to store. Properly handled and stored, they'll keep into the following summer....See Moreholes in My Sweet Potato Leaves and Black Ants
Comments (2)You may try Diatomaceous Earth- Food Grade to kill ants http://www.ghorganics.com/DiatomaceousEarth.html Are there any safety concerns with DE? Yes, you must wear a dust mask when applying it as it can irritate the mucous membranes in the nose and mouth. Once the DE dust has settled it won't bother you. Comments (14)Before I got smart and bought a metal bird feeder, the squirrels destroyed every plastic feeder I bought. They would chew holes in the plastic, eat the wooden dowels, and then devour the bird seed. The bird feeders were hanging on a black metal shepherds hook. One day I mixed hot pepper in Crisco and coated that pole. They would climb 2 feet, then slide back 1. They would jump from a tree and spin as they hit that slick pool. Then the pepper would start heating up their paws and they would shake their paws trying to get it off. Then they would try to eat it off of their paws and start shaking their heads trying to get it out of their mouth. They looked like they were having a seizure. I laughed until I hurt. By night time, I had fewer squirrels. Next day, I had them again, but they didn't look like the same ones. LOL...See Moredigdirt2
