Wanted: Native Seeds

Hi! I'm new to here, and I'm looking for some native seeds.

For the garden:

Asclepias tuberosa - Butterfly weed

Koeleria macrantha - June grass

Lobelia siphilitica - Great blue lobelia

Lobelia cardinalis Cardinal flower

Those are ones I'm especially interested in. Otherwise, I'm open to other grasses/flowers, in addition to Vanilla Grass seeds (Anthoxanthum odorata) just because I always wanted to have it.

I have a very small garden and as such can only collect seeds from between 2-4 plants. So, my seed amounts for certain species for trade may be smallish. Also, I'm new to collecting seed as well, so I'm trying my best to clean/prepare them.

For trade/extra:

Anemone patens - Pasque Flower

Geum triflorum - Prairie Smoke

Geranium maculatum - Wild Geranium

Tradescantia ohiensis - Common (Ohio) Spiderwort

Pycnanthemum virginianum - Common mountain mint (Will have soon)

Eryngium yuccifolium - Rattlesnake master

Gentiana andrewsii - Bottle gentian (Possibly soon)

Carex vulpinoidea - Brown Fox Sedge

Silene regia - Royal Catchfly (very small amount from 1 plant)

Silene stellata - Starry Campion

You might also want to post at The Native Plant Exchange too. Though that forum/exchange is rather show, someone might have some things you are looking for as well as being interested in what you have for trade.

I have Asclepias tuberosa from 2010, as well as Asclepias Incarnata from 2009 and may have other natives of interest to you some later. I am interested in your Anemone patens and especially interested in your Gentiana andrewsii - Bottle gentian (Possibly soon) ...no rush though.

I'm sorry Sue. I thought you meant that you wanted the link to the review page, D'OH. There is a reason I turned off my email. There were several instances of inappropriate emails, two cyber stocking and then many many requests for free seeds. So I turned off my email. I am willing to leave it on only for a short time to do some trades and then off it goes again. 99% of you are all the most wonderful people, but for some reason, I am a 1% magnet :)

I have both Lobelia siphilitica-Great blue lobelia and Lobelia cardinalis-Cardinal flower. I am interested in the Geum triflorum. Do you have any germination suggestions? The lobelias are easy to germinate.

I am also interested in your Geum triflorum and also the Anemone patens -- and have several natives on my have list. Take a look, and if you'd like recommendations on any of them just let me know. I'd be happy to trade several for these two.

First off, thank you to Sue for the newbie guide, that helped quite a bit!

Secondly, within the next few days I'll organize my seeds better and get a feel for how much I can trade, since so many want the Pasque Flower and Prairie Smoke.

Also, to Sue: I think I'll be able to collect the Bottle Gentian soon, the flower heads seem dry enough, just looking for the stems to be less green.

I sure thought I posted something, but I guess not. Hmmm Well if you are seeing this twice I do apologize!!

I would love to trade for you spiderwort and your prairie smoke and I don't mind waiting on your bottle gentian. Please have a look at my list and see if there is anything that may interest you.

I don't want to trade but I have a question about Geum triflorum. I started some from seed a few years ago and I still don't have blooms. The rosette of foliage is big and healthy looking but that's all there is. Does it normally take a few years to flower? I did notice that it barely grew until the second spring which isn't that uncommon but I was expecting blooms this year. If they don't bloom next season they might be headed for the compost pile!
