Leggy Brussels sprouts

The local nursery had a "get this crap outa here" sale, and since my late planted Brussels sprouts are still tiny I bought some over grown ones in 2" cell packs. I soaked the tightly woven root balls in high phosporus fertilizer (15-30-15), and slit them it in two vertically to expose some roots that were not woven together, and planted them fairly deep.

My question is this. Will 12" tall brussels sprouts put out new roots or are they pretty much stuck with what they start to put out when little. Just how well do they transplant?
