Why are my peas & green beans becoming yellowed and brittle?

I'm brand-new to gardening. If anyone could please help me figure out why my plants are sickly, I'd really appreciate it!

We planted peas and green beans (among other vegetables) in purchased bulk "planting mix" since our native dirt isn't hospitable to vegetables.

Now our little plants are a few inches tall, and I water them all well with a hose every morning. Our weather is already hot, and we live in a windy area. Yet most of the plants in the garden are growing well.

The peas and green beans have sprouted well, but some of the plants are showing the following symptoms:

1. Bug bite holes and some white spotting (maybe due to leaf hoppers, although I haven't caught them in the act)

2. Yellowed, paper-like, dry, brittle leaves

I'm wondering if my problems could have to do with:

1. Overwatering?

2. Scorching in the hot sun and wind?

3. Bugs?

4. Fertilizer deficiency?

Please help me if you have any ideas!
