Horse poop on asparagus?

I got a truckful of mostly composted horse manure from freecycle. It doesn't smell bad and is mostly powdery, with a few clumps that break up easily. It isn't hot.

I used most of it in an area to be made into a new bed at a later date, but still have some left.

Would it be a good idea to sprinkle/spread some around the asparagus bed, let it sit some more and feed the gus in the fall when I cut them back, or add it to the compost pile so it's not "straight" manure?

There are also producing artichokes in that bed. Nancy
