Pear variety ID help

beachwreck

I know it is difficult to identify a fruit variety from just a description but this particular pear has a few distinguishing characteristics.

The tree is on an old homestead and about 35 years old. The fruit begins to ripen in October here in 7b GA, 4-6 weeks after the main crop pears . Some of the fruit holds on the tree for another 4 weeks and can be picked anytime and allowed to finish ripening off the tree. Some of the fruit held on the tree until Thanksgiving, surviving light frosts.

This year the tree had a huge crop. I don't know if that is normal or not. Also, I could not find a pollinizer nearby. No sign of FB this year.

The pears were sweet and flavorful but not extraordinary. A solid B+.

I will be grafting my own tree soon and would like to know the name of what I'm growing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Fred
