I've decided to forget the mauve rose and go with an all yellow bed. Too much headache. The bed is edged in lavender so that should provide enough contrast. SCHNEEKOPPE is definately on my list of must haves for my TWILIGHT'S BOWER garden. I really like the delicate lavender tinged white color and the loosely cupped flower form is better than with most Hybrid Rugosas. Besides, we actually get a winter here in zone 6 so it should be happier. I'll make sure to amend/replace the soil to improve drainage, and carefully place it so that it won't maul visitors. Sammy, It might just be me but my Sharifa Asma mildewed even when sprayed on a regular schedule. GC left my yard last week after 5 years bs disaster if not sprayed, balls if it gets wet. I've never seen cleaner roses than Kordes ADR roses, or Ping Lim roses, as no spray as roses could be. I've had a few problems in the first year but once thier root systems get going their fabulous. The only problem with Kordes their hard to find own root which is how I like my roses. Northland is starting to carry them,thats good. I have maybe ten different Kordes ADR. Its been raining for four days now not a spot on them. Their blooms hold up very well in hot sun as well. GC is being replaced with Lyons Rose or Kosmos. Kosmos is shorter than lyons but so packed with petals if you live in a high rain area I could see problems with them opening. Mine has some blooms on it thru this rain they haven't discolored or turned mushy. Love,love,love them. Haven't sprayed any of my Kordes or Ping Lim roses. Paloma Blanca has not balled for me but I don't know why? For light pink theirs no better garden rose than Quietness. If you ever had to move this rose you'll should see a root system that resembles a tree. Sorry, I know your looking for white. Any one looking for carefree roses where teas and chinas won't live you won't be disapointed. As a side note their very vigorous, this helps a lot when fighting midge.

Thbjr, Yeah 25000 lumens is a bit much to supply indoors... but the Purple Pitcher Plant is the most light greedy carnivorous plant ever. Without that amount of light the pitchers will start to loose their color, grow in twisted and stunted, and might even grow in flat like phyllodia (winter leaves for Sarracenias of several species). A good strongly lit window and strong supplemental florescent lights will give the Sarracenia and Flytrap at least a fighting chance. If you try your plants outside you will want to keep them out of the hottest summer days as most carnivorous plants do not like heat much over 100 degrees. Other nice tropical species would include Drosera capensis and Drosera spatulata, both easy growers that will do well indoors in a well lit window or under florescent lights. In addition, if you are looking for a larger plant, you can try a Nepenthes.. like N. alata, N. sanguinea, N. ventrata, and N. ventricosa... there are several more plants you could grow easily indoors, but those are a good start.

When it got too cold at night for mine, I brought them indoors and kept them in my garage. They stayed in there without any sunlight. When it got too cold to leave them in my unheated garage, I moved them into my house, where they sat on an unlit shelf for the rest of winter. During this time, I didn't water them at all. When spring rolled around, new growth began budding out all in its own. When the weather outside was warm enough, I moved them outdoors to a shaded location and finally watered them. Needless to say that they didn't get any significant amount of sunlight during that entire time, and they did just fine.
