trimming asian pears

i just bought a 6ft containerized 20'th century. i'm not sure how to trim it.

texas a&m has recommendations for bare root trees; cut it to 2ft tall, & after the first year select 3 leaders, so as to have horizontal growth, & leave the center of the tree open. but i cant find where a&m talks about trimming containerized trees.

this tree has 3 main limbs, but they all go straight up. they branch our from the trunk & immediately shoot for the sky.

so, should i cut if to 2 ft like a bare root & hope for horizontal leaders? & is this tree just determined to have entirely vertical limbs?
