Jean- I'm sorry I just traded the last of the stevia, the grape vines I will have to get from a neighboring vinyard. I am caring for a sick freinf this week so will not be able to go get cuttings until next week, but I can get them then. Alysum I do have, one unopened pack. I woul dlove ot get the beans as well as the cuttings for the berries. I will mail you with the specifics. Hey All, To those I traded with two weeks ago, yours went out this past thursday, sorry they are late, we had some illness problems. I like to go to the post office and double check my postage because if the env. is too fat they charge me more. I am looking for Italian flat pole beans, parsnips, armenian cucumbers, or lettuces I dont have. I have lots of heirloom tomatoes fresh from the garden. Lots of fresh flowers. If you dont have any of my wants I will trade for little baggies. Please check my list and mail me directly as GW email is not getting through at all for me. I hope everyone had a great harvest. They canned up very well! I did 7 pints of Runners, 7 pints of mixed yellow/purple Romas and 13 pints of Romanos today. Two pints of Romanos didn't seal, so we were forced to eat them. Such a pity... ;-)

I have grown them in Massachusetts. You just have to put them out early. Plant the same time as peas. Hope you do not get a really hot spell in late June since fava beans really do not like hot weather. The way people grow fava beans in 'fava countries' is they plant them in the fall; they come up, grow a few inches, and hold over the winter. They begin growing early in their spring and are harvested before the weather gets hot. However, they will not survive weather below 15F which leaves that technique out for you. FYI, if you are growing fava beans, they can get a bit tall and sometimes blow over. I used to grow them in a double row and put a stake every ten feet or so along the rows. Ran a basket weave twine between the plants, fastening it to the stakes. Went ;up and down the row once. Did a fair job of keeping them upright. You might also try pinching the tops on some of them. If the weather is right, you will get new shoots coming up and get a larger harvest. The picture is not very useful, but it is the only one I have of fava beans. Sorry. Pick them small.
