SVB ?s and prepping for extreme heat?

First, I see all this talk about SVB. I've never heard of it and found a picture, I've never seen a bug like that. Is that a Southern/East Coast bug or something? I'm in NorCal, I guess we don't get a huge amount of bugs as it is, but you're all kind of scaring me a little with the talk of SVB.

Second, it's supposed to hit over 100 degrees tomorrow. So far everything has been growing well, but I worry about the extreme heat. If everything is deeply watered, do I need to worry about anything? The lettuce and root veggies I have are under shade after mid-afternoon, so I'm hoping they'll be fine. Should we go out and do an extra watering tonight? Any plants in particular I should worry about? We have corn, green beans, zuchinni, summer squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, basil, a few kinds of peppers, peas, lettuce, a beet, turnips, radishes, strawberries, carrots.

I'm kind of new to this and want to be prepared.
