Cherries don't really live very long anywhere. As someone said once they are always looking for a way to die. But you do get more than enough chilling in winter. And your temperatures the rest of the year aren't too extreme. What has gotten me on one rootstock is bacterial canker. That will be something you'll likely have to deal with.

If you have well drained soil you should have reasonable chances of a fairly long lived tree. From there you'll have to deal with disease and insect pests, birds, and varmints.

Carmine Jewel is fairly new (especially to the U.S.) so you might have difficulty finding someone w/ a lot of experience growing it here. I can say a lot of people seem to be trying it around zone 6ish and I've not heard any negatives yet. A neighbor put in a bush here, last year or the year before last.

Tart cherries do pretty well here. Bush cherries tend to be even tougher. I expect Carmine Jewel is a pretty good bet in terms of survival. I've no idea if the fruit will withstand our cracking rains.

I've been toying with the idea of trying it myself.

I have my CJ for 3 years and so far nothing negative. It started fruiting last summer. No disease or insect damage so far. The regular bush cherries (nunking) are completely care free here, so I hope CJ will be care free too. It is own root, so you don't need to worry about rootstock. For nunking cherries, if you harvest them w/o waiting too long you will beat the birds. I don't know yet if it is going to be the same with CJ, but if not, it is easy to put a net over the bush. It is much easier with 5-6 feet bush than when you have to net the tree. The taste was good, but I had only a handful of first cherries. Hopefully this year it will be a real harvest for me. My zone is 6B, I am in MD. Summers here are quite hot.
