The wonderful world of wild fruits. Your favorites?

I know this does not seem to be quite the right forum for this, but believe it or not there is no "wild edibles" or similar forum.

Anyway, I wonder what people's favorite wild fruits are wherever they live or have spent time.

I grew up in southern NY State, where my favorite summer sweets are:

mulberry (red and white)

blackberry

black raspberry

wineberry

highbush blueberry

From a bit farther south and west, the following take the cake:

pawpaw

American persimmon

From the Desert Southwest:

prickly pear

pitaya

hackberry

Mexican elder

From the Rockies and Great Plains:

raspberry

American plum

chokecherry

wild grape

juneberry

From Southern California:

olive (naturalized)

manzanita

holly-leaf cherry

date (native fan palm and others naturalized)

From Seattle area (limited time spent):

Himalayan blackberry

I have yet to explore a few areas for wild fruits, especially the South and Southeast, so I'd love to hear from someone over there.

OK, what have I left out? What are the best wild fruits to be had in your area? Anyone out there tried saguaro or organpipe cactus fruit? What about wild passionfruit, Texas persimmon, or wild jujube?

I'd really love to hear your thoughts...
