Thanks for your response. The seed was planted about January 18th, and seems to be growing so slowly. I had started it in a small peat pot but have transplanted it all into a windowbox type planter which is about 24 inches long, 10 inches wide and about 10 inches deep. Its possible that the MG soil has too much nitrogen, but I have other things planted in that same medium and no problems. The lights are not hot to the touch, but maybe the lettuce only needs 10 hrs of light rather than 16? I dont have it planted to close to each other, so its not crowded, Its just taking this so long to grow, but there is signs of growth, however so slow. I know you dont have a crystal ball, so thanks for the sugggestions. This is my first time with seeds, so I am going to let it go for now and see what happens. I'm only watering if the ground is completely dry. But for the past week or so it's required watering every morning. The fertilizer is supposed to be applied about every 10 days which I'm currently doing so I don't think there's too much fertilizer on the plants.

preppyjock, We all have a lot to learn from gardening, every year. I think you need to start from the basics. In reading your other post, I can see you are having a tough time, as many of us are this year. Many suggestions have been given, and I know you can't do them all at once, but to garden you have to have some basics in place. Since the season is coming to an end, unless you plan on doing a fall garden, which many of us will do, you need to start to prep you area for next year. Look at your soil, have it tested, make adjustments,add compost,manure as needed. Get your soil ready for next year.Nothing gives plants a better start than this! Then look at plants and varietys that do well for your zone. Maybe only do a few until you get those down then add a few more. But believe me start with the basics, you will be so much better off. When you start to do this and that to your garden you really start to mess up the balance. Start small, and add to it year after year until you gain the knowledge to add to the things you grow.

Looks like its getting burnt to a crisp. When did you plant it? If it doesn't have any roots set up, it's getting blazed with hot sun, and you fertilized it, I think that would cause the burning. There could be something wacky with your soil too.
