purple jalapenos?

blackish purple colored along one side and at the tops. what causes this? too much heat? just curious. they look very healthy otherwise...

They're sun burned or sun scald. The peppers are fine. Still completely edible. There isn't enough leaf coverage to protect the peppers. It happens to mine every year.

first year I planted pepper seeds, I dont think I got any of them to germinate. I dont think I gave them enough time. This year just about all came up after close to 3 weeks even with a heating pad under them. They do take a lot longer than tomaotes to germinate and grow. Just give them a chance. Chuck B

Mine started off slow, but drastically picked up growth speed when planted in the ground mid July of last year. They do so much better in the soil than in containers. Just my experience. I had the opposite findings with other varieties of hot peppers. I was tripping over Purple Jalapenos come September. I live in Zone 6B. Chris
