Well, as a LL this is just my .02. Considering the type of structure, I agree he should be using some kind of outside power source designated strictly for building maintenance use. If he doesn't have such an outlet, he needs to get one, it's only going to cause grief at some point using a tenant's power. (Although that can flip on a LL, as there are the occasional tenants out there who feel a sense of entitlement, and would tap into it, so perhaps that's why none exists?) Regardless, it's pretty critical to keep the structure safe from damage. (It is the roof over your head as well, and you don't want to be faced with water seepage>possible mold damage down the line, so at least he's trying to protect all involved.) So my suggestion would be, that before you come out with all barrels blasting with an advocacy group or something like that, just talk to him again, with figures in hand. Explain you're on a fixed income (even if he knows that, remind him) and it's just not feasible for you to bear the load for the building. Show him the wattage being used, and show him comparable power bills from recent/similar months and how usage has increased. Or get something from your power company if they'll provide it. And I'm encouraging you to be calm and civil about it. If he's reasonable, he'll cooperate. Because when he said $20 there is always the chance he thought that would be adequate, and he truly did not know how much power this process was going to take. So perhaps he just needs enlightened by you. If, after seeing evidence of what it's done to your own utility bill increase, he still refuses to compensate you, then yes, seek some advice from your local resources.

We got our Ticor sink from Overstock too. Waited to get it with grids from Galaxy and they were out of stock of the sink when the grids arrived - we should have secured the order. We were desperate as we only had 2 weeks before the granite was to be cut. I search for the Ticor sink S3560 and eventually found it on Overstock. We did the same thing - reviewed the model number, photos etc. and ordered through Overstock. The sink arrived in the Ticor box, appears very solid and is insulated. Our installer said it was a solid sink, they noted that some square sinks can be flimsy - ours isn't. I am glad that Ticor confirmed that Overstock sells their sinks - there was always that question in my mind. We would have preferred to order with Galaxy - they are very good to deal with, but timing became the issue.

No apology needed. I understand the confusion. No bait & switch, no rip off, but clearly a misunderstanding. coloredthumb made the point I was going to make. But one more issue. Several are going off demanding something as unfair, but there's a very important piece of the puzzle missing. What would ONE unit ring on the register??? Is it $1.79 or $3.59? Also I'm not clear. You're saying they put price tags on each of the milk cartons saying $1.79? If so, definitely confusing, but the sign made the point, albeit confusingly, and nobody has the right to demand something because they misunderstood something. Contrary to popular belief, the customer IS NOT always right. It's all in the "fine print", subject to change. There's no contract on it. That said, if I were the store manager in this situation, I'd reprimand the one who made the sign. And I'd give the $1.79 refund to you, as long as you were nice about it! ;) I'd think it appropriate to complain about the sign being unclear but that's about it. But if you see how one unit rings, it would make your argument a lot more credible if it rings $1.79 on a one unit purchase. I think it does set a good example of the failure of the educational system when the employees are making signs like this. It's not difficult to make it a little more clear and avoid the hassle. It's amazing what I see when I work (and shop) in retail stores!
