Barn siding gaps...Best Filler?

Steel barn is finally up and planning for chicks next week. Noted 1/2" spaces in places where vertical siding meets concrete floor. A few 1/4" gaps are along corner trim near wainscoating.

Noted a skinny garter snake today. Since the doors and windows are practically sealed,I believe the snake got through at the base. During construction a grey foam filler strip was place between the steel siding and the concrete lip base. In a few places, there seems to be slipage and the grey foam does not fill the gap.

Anyone solved this problem? I was thinking of using the Great Stuff for wide gaps. Also thought that I could cut and wind up coils of scrap metal to place in the space before adding the foam. Wrote to DOW (mfg) and awating their comments.

Is there a lasting filter that would also repel rodents and snakes? I will be spreading granular sulfur around the barn to deter snakes.

Thanks,

cella jane
