Tips on keeping cows away from pumpkin vines

I guess I'm in the right forum... anyway, I'm planning a pumpkin patch on my granddad's farm in Ky. There are cows in the pasture where the pumpkins are to be planted; not too many, maybe 7 or 8. I don't know if pumpkin plants are even appetizing to cattle, but if they are I'm worried that the cows will eat the young plants before they have a chance to get established. I don't have a way to fence them off from the rest of the pasture, so I was hoping that there was some way to keep the cows from chowing down on the vines. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Abby
