How to post pictures

I want to post some pictures of my yard and get suggestions on additional landscaping. I finally (after much research and confusion) purchased a digital camera and I know how to upload them onto my computer. Can anyone refer me to a link or explain how I post them in the Gardenweb? Thanks.

You need to get an account with a photo hosting website. There are several free ones. What you do next depends on the website. I use photobucket for mine. It's very easy to use and holds tons of pics for free. Once you've followed their directions for uploading your pics to their site, you just copy and paste the tag line to the body of your message. It's www.photobucket.com.

Yeh, but...

Do everyone else a favor and learn to minimize the file size of those photos before you post them. Sure, it is easy to post them once you learn how but nobody is going to look at them when they take too long to download. With photos, a little "byte" goes a long way.

Photos are both a blesssing and a curse. We are now seeing the forums needlessly deluged with these monster photos that will not even fit on my 21 inch monitor -- if I even bother wasting the time to download the thread at all.

old crafty...just open up the link you want to share...highlight the "http://address," then right click & click copy ... go to the GJ forum where you usually post a "follow-up message"...right click & click paste in the "Optional Link URL" box. Then you must give it a name in the "Name of the Link" box. If you are going to "Post a Message to the Forum" (this means you are creating the post ...not follow-up message on someone's else's post...then you must click "Review" after you type the body of your message ...then these 2 boxes will pop up: "Optional Link URL" & "Name of the Link"...so you do the same as above to add the info in these boxes. Go to Photobucket. Join, it's free. Upload pictures from your computer. After you have uploaded the picture you want to post you click in the HTML code box. That will copy it. Then you just Ctrl/past in the GW Message box. Real easy. Tip: You do have to make your album public. That will be under Home, then profile.

This info is utterly outdated, even on GW right before it was taken over by Houzz. You can't post photos the way this thread describes anymore. Now, if the photo is on your computer you just click the photo button below the post composition area and navigate to the photo you want to upload, or you can link to a photo on Houzz. You can't like to places like photobucket anymore. ETA To clarify, you actually can link to sites like photobucket, but you will get a text link, not a photo appearing in the post.
