Entryway shrubs to go with "mop" cypress?

I'm planting a row of "golden mop" false cypress in front of the house and just realized it might look better to install complementary "foundation" shrubs on either side of the door than to have one long row of mop cypresses from corner to corner (side of the house to the left of the door is the same as that shown but shorter).

Can anyone suggest an evergreen that grows no more than six feet tall and two feet wide? Or anything else that would go well with the cypress? Also, is there a short, dark grass-like evergreen I could plant in front of the cypress (and foundation shrubs)? A single row of liriope would be perfect if it came in a very dark green (or purple), for contrast with the yellow cypress.

You can see I've only planted one cypress thus far. The shutters are being repainted a medium green and the bed will be edged with a scalloped brick border, if that makes any difference.

Sorry so long - I'm very ignorant of non-food plants. Thanks SO MUCH for any suggestions!
