I'm starting to harvest some snap peas here in Zone 6.

Been harvesting a few tomatoes, Bell peppers, lots of Bok Choy/Pak Choy and tons of herbs (Basil, Rosemary, Lemon Thyme)

Blossoms on the squash? Harvest them! They're great sauteed, or fried in batter (that's how my aunt made them in Italy). The plants can afford to give you a few so you don't go hungry :)

Wow nothing to Harvest? Here in SouthEastern Pennsylvania I am knee deep in sugar snap peas and strawberries. We are still harvesting lettuce every day. We had a couple of very warm days - Today is expected to be in the 90s. So I may be taking out my lettuce and replacing it with other veggies.

also mindy - the bolting stalks of chinese cabbage and bok choi and tatsoi are super tasty in stir fries. get them before the flowers are even close to bloomin and the the whole stalk cooks up tender and delicious...

I actually had a plan for super early toms and peppers this year - that hail storm a few weeks back took em out...

When did you plant your squash? I have only 1 early speciman that is full of buds, - but no blooming so far, otherwise direct seeded the squash and melons yesterday.....

I envy you still being able to harvest chard. Mine bolted way too early this spring. Like you we are in the waiting period between spring and summer crops. Just pulled the 1st duke on Friday and we are getting a handful (literally) of blackberries from our 1 year old plants.

Try growing kale & snip leaves as they grow.

Under 2" long great for salads. The bigger leaves chopped finely go with any saucy meat dish, but hide especially well in stir fry and spaghetti meat sauce. Important for new kale eaters to not overcook & snip very small.

If you snip just the leaves you get a tall, thick stemmed plant. If you cut the entire top off it resprouts. I found some sprouting in stalks I pulled up earlier this spring in the compost pile yesterday. They just keep growing...

Red Russian kale self sows for me, so I planted several years ago & just move seedlings if I want to rotate. Surprisingly they transplant pretty easily when young. If a bit older they may flop, but will regain their strength & continue on if you keep them moist.

Last spring's plants are going to seed now & planting our overwintering crop. What went to seed right away in spring have sprouted and are 4" tall -- almost ready to start snipping. We'll cut all winter on the spring & summer self sown kale & let them go to seed next spring.

After frost the kale tastes sweeter, but it's still good now. even with the flowers opening up the taste is stronger cabbage-like, but tasty when small bits of leaves are added to our entrees.

Earlier this spring we cut the entire stalk down & stripped them of the leaves by grasping top of stalk and pulling downward to base. Washed leaves. Lined them up with stems on one side of the cutting board to do a multiple chop off. Spun dry in salad spinner & packed away in frig for meals all week. It was pretty easy & quick to do that way. Those stalks are resprouting and not giving up yet. Amazing plants!

Elisa: i fried up some tgis morning! Very good. I stuffed them with cheese garlic and basil.
Rayinpenn: our strawberries are about done. We had about two weeks of a bowl full a day...all gone now. : (

T bird: i think in mid april. I had to keep replanting because of bunniies. I had them under agribon 19. This is that early planting today. I also planted more about 3 days ago.

Finally getting some blossoms on the pepper plants!! My melons are really slow going right now compared to all the other cucurbs. Hope they catch up. Cant wait for them!!
