Red Plastic Mulch and Weeds

For the past several seasons, I've placed red plastic "mulch" (sheeting, actually) beneath my tomato plants, stapling it to the edges of my raised bed. The tomatoes have performed very well, growing seven feet tall and producing a bounty of fruit. However, the weeds go bananas under that red mulch. (I read in another red plastic mulch thread that the red and far red light that the plastic mulch enhances stimulates germination, which is probably why I've got far more weeds beneath my plastic mulch than in any other bed.)

My question is, how do I deal with the onslaught of weeds beneath the plastic mulch? The mulch is stapled in place, so I can't just lift it up and weed every week. Since the tomatoes are doing well anyway, should I just try and ignore the vigorous crop of weeds beneath the sheeting?
