please help me do foundation plantings around this.

My husband is just putting on the finishing touches on our garden shed.

I would like some to do some foundation plantings around it for year-round interest. I look at it from the kitchen so I want to plant now before the fall and winter.

I have some plants I want to move from other parts of the yard but I don't mind buying a cedar or two. I have on had to move:

- ice blue clematis

- butterfly bush

- annabelle hydrangea

- 2 euonymus

- pink peony

- miscanthus sinensis maiden grass

- graziella maiden grass

The two sides with the windows are about 4' long, and another 2' to the fence, so I have 6' length to work with on either side. In front of the door will have some patio stones of some sort. I also don't want too deep a planting because our backyard is small.

WHen you walk in to the back yard, you see behind the shed on the left hand side, so I want to screen that very well. It isn't too important to screen the right hand side plus we may need to access the back once in a while, so nothing too big on that side.

Our design style is very tailored and structured, so I want something more formal but I'm not a big fan of symmetrical plantings.

So.. how's that for a challenge! :)
