HELP newbie w/small yard

Hi. I am renovating a house in center city philadelphia. I have a small enclosed backyard. I am having a 4' x 7' brick container built to plant some flowers amidst the concrete. The planter will be built adjacent to a south and west wall (I am surrounded by walls but still get sun with the privacy.) Please help me edit the following list for a realistic, utilitarian AND beautiful flower/herb bed.

Altissimo

Sombreuil - two climber roses

Clematis Hagley Hybrid

Daylily - Catherine Woodbury

Nicotania alata

Delphinium Double Innocence

Sage

Rosemary

Lavender

Coneflower - Purple or White

Foxglove - Camelot Lavender

Chives

Assorted Thymes

I assembled this list from internet surfing for flowers and herbs that are either scented, beautiful and/or that I use in cooking.

Am I mad? Overly ambitious? Delusional? How should I edit the space to realize most of the fantasy but given my space limitations? What should I delete or add? Thanks, and all input will be appreciated.
