Front yard landscaping...clean slate...again

A coupla years ago I had posted my plea on this very forum about my lack of skills and know-how, and my problem with landscaping the front of my house. Our septic system is right in our front yard...so one day my husband decided to surprise me and put in a large raised bed there, hexagon shaped, to kind of hide it. It stayed for several years, but the rest of the project never got finished, because the hexagon just didn't...well, fit! I posted pictures here on how to "make" it fit, and people here helped me to see what I was feeling all along. It just might not have been the answer to the problem. Just didn't go. The plan was to take it out. Well, here we are, a couple years later, it's FINALLY gone. With work, and field work, health issues, family issues...etc etc. I put my project on the back burner.

Now I'm back! The hexagon is out....I will include a photo or two of what the bare yard looks like now, but I'm back to square one again. How to hide these things. I would like some foundation plants, shrubs of some sort, but also need to hide these eyesores, but in such a way that they can be accessed when they need to be. I live near Madison, WI, zone 5a, and the front of the house faces north, the garage being in front of the house does offer some protection from the west wind.

Also included a pic of what it looked like with the hexagon in there (made with landscape timbers). Just didn't "go"

Thanks!

Angie
